Avengers: Endgame Brought Back One MCU Star with Recycled Footage – I suspected this! Something seemed very off about how Natalie Portman was integrated. Not to say the filmmakers didn’t do their best with what they had. It would have been more distracting to re-cast.
TechCrunch: Avengers: Endgame becomes the first film to break $1 billion in an opening weekend – The money is not a surprise. I was surprised by how nicely everything wrapped up. What a feat of storytelling over many years and 20+ films! What do you think? This year’s front-runner for Best Picture?

I saw similar reactions to the above when images of Will Smith as the genie in Aladdin first came out. I’d caution people not to judge VFX too harshly when they appear in a trailer. I know from the inside of the process, these shots are often rushed and undercooked by necessity. That said, it is fair game to criticize the design of Sonic, which doesn’t seem to fit most people’s image of the video game character.
