Natural Victims: Day Five – Hollywood Signs
Day Five saw the return of Drew and thus the reunion of the cast. It was a very productive day. We shot the extended sequence of "Carter" and "Angela" after they've broken off from the party as well as the sequence where "Billy" catches up to them and they push further into the park.
At sunset, we ended up at a beautiful location overlooking the Hollywood sign. The conversation that ensues between the characters is both dramatic and hilarious. I love these actors!
I've been editing since about 8:30pm and will continue deep into the night. I can already tell that I'm going to have to suppress my instinct to noodle with footage endlessly. The cutting of this movie is going to have to be as quick and dirty as the shooting.
What relaxes me is the fact that I'm getting great material from the improv-professional actors. I'm confident that the honey-roasted of their performances will help carry sections where the shooting and editing is quite raw.
That, and the fact that... it's a two week film. A film shot and edited in two weeks! Movies are like Wall Street, you don't have to make a profit, just beat expectations.
