John August: Enough with "Breathe, Dammit!"
Screenwriter John August declares a moratorium on the near-death dialogue cliché:
Double negative points for saying something quippy after being revived.
He has good timing. Natural Victims has a scene where one of the characters tries not to have a stereotypical death scene.
I was also influenced by August's complaints about movies having scenes where cell phones don't get reception. The characters in Natural Victims check a Google Map on an iPhone, but find that knowing where they are helps little in figuring out which direction they need to go to get where they want to be.
