Exposition from an Idiot Box
John August has some good advice on putting television into movies. I might also add some rules on computers in movies:
- Most programs are functional. They don't have fancy visual graphics and they don't beep to let you know they've finished computing. This especially holds true for any program created by a government contractor. Do you think the spy agencies want to waste processor cycles on semi-transparent windows and animations?
- Only really high-end hackers never take their hands off the keyboard. The rest of us use a mouse.
- You can't infinitely zoom in on a photograph and maintain resolution. You just can't.
- Passwords cannot be guessed out of thin air. You have to have a clue about how the person thinks.
That's my ten cents anyway.
