Academy Awards Post-Mortem

I enjoyed this year's ceremony. Tim Goodman didn't:

It was long. It was flat. And it was bloated. Worst of all, it was boring. In the time it could have taken to see two of the five best picture nominees, the 79th annual Academy Awards managed to become one of the least interesting television shows of the entire season.

While Ellen's brand of humor is less to my taste than Jon Stewart's, I thought the moments where she interacted with the audience were more genuine. The awards disbursed mostly as predicted. Instead of giving comedian Eddie Murphy an award for a dramatic role, comedian Alan Arkin got an award for a comedic role. It was nice to see Scorsese finally win, and win for a deserving film.
