Through A Glass gets spoofed!

Through A Glass Productions, makers of the indie musical Air, find themselves in an odd position:

Friday, October 27

[Chris] A bit of seriousness today, folks.

I don't know how many will see this beforehand, and my information is secondhand, but I feel it's important enough and concerns us enough to share. I learned today from a (very reliable) member of the Independent Film Coalition of Kansas City, that apparently a man has attended a few meetings recently (none of which Jeremy or I have been present at) claiming to be screenwriter Steve Barancik. There is sufficient evidence to doubt this claim (not the least of which is correspondance between the IFC and the real Steve Barancik - resident of New Mexico). Apparently recently the man also claimed to have worked with Through A Glass Productions.

Now, I don't know about the rest of it, but I can tell you that nobody by the name of Steve Barancik has been in contact with us. The serious part here is that apparently this man is holding auditions sometime tomorrow for an upcoming project. Like I said, my information is secondhand, so I'm not accusing anyone of anything. But I just wanted to throw the info out there with a bit of cautionary advice for any audition, which is to be careful. Especially if you're working independent of an agency or group, it never hurts to ask questions, and don't get into a situation that makes you feel uncomfortable.

As if actors didn't have it rough enough without having to worry about sham auditions! And poor Steve Barancik who, as a screenwriter in New Mexico, is probably looking for some publicity, but not at the expense of his reputation.

The real Barancik pictured above... I think. Photo source.
