Yahoo Buys Jumpcut
Not wasting any time to see if Eyespot or Videoegg or Grouper emerges victorious in the battle of the (literally) online editing programs, Yahoo makes a pre-emptive buy for Jumpcut.
With iMovie bundled standard with Macs and Windows Movie Maker standard with PCs, web editing is going to be a tough sell for the person who wants to do a basic family vacation movie. Plus AvidDV and Final Cut Pro are not out of the range of the video hobbyist. Plus YouTube and GoogleVideo are probably working on ways to integrate editing into their already popular video distribution businesses. So yeah, I'm not sure what this aquisition is about.
