Top Sci-Fi Movies

The Guardian polled a bunch of scientists, asking for the best. The list they come up with is predictable -- but I was shocked that Blade Runner beat 2001: A Space Odyssey. Blasphemy! They also should've scrounged up more than one movie in black and white or a non-English language -- Metropolis anyone?

1. Bladerunner
2. 2001: A Space Odyssey
3. Star Wars/Empire Strikes Back
4. Alien
5. Solaris (1972)
6. Terminator/T2
7. The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
8. War of the Worlds
9. The Matrix
10. Close Encounters of the Third Kind

And why isn't Close Encounters ranked higher? I have to admit, I still haven't seen the Tarkovsky Solaris or the Soderbergh remake. To the Netflix queue!
