One Final Cut Pro-pinion
Joel weighs the pros and cons of FCP.
His big con: the rendering, especially when it comes to audio.
I've yet to use the audio program that now comes bundled with Final Cut, Soundtrack Pro. Apple hopes it will compete with Avid's ProTools program. Nothing competes, however, with a professional audio mixer. On my next major project, I'm hoping to have enough budget to output my unmixed tracks for a pro to sit down with. The more I read about sound design, the more I'm convinced that less magic goes into it than trial and error. I'd love to have an experienced person who has already put in the trial and error time. Saves me render headaches.
SPEAKING OF SOUND: Foley is making a comback.
