XDCAM HD drops at SXSW

HD For Indies as usual has all the technical goodness about this new Sony tape format. The skinny: it lies between the low-end (HDV) and the high-end (HDCAM, HDCAM SR); it will work with Blu-ray discs (the Sony High Def DVD replacement), holding about 2 hours of footage on a single side and layer at the lowest data rate; discs will retail for about $30 each, which Mike points out is cheap compared Panasonic's P2 flash-memory format.
