Instinct, Basically
Caryn James overanalyzes the trailer for the Basic Instinct sequel:
The preview's overall tone makes "Basic Instinct 2" seem like a conventional thriller (bad move), but there are also hints that the film is knowingly heading toward camp. "Sorry, you're not allowed to smoke in here," the psychiatrist tells Catherine, not so long before he reminds her that she's on trial for her life. Then they have sex.
